The weather was going to get yucky later today so we decided on our way home from church that we would go out and cut the tree down today.
We left the house around 11:15am, all bundled up and ready to find that prefect tree. Now, you need to remember, that my dad always got these HUGE ROLY POLY kind of trees. So in my mind that is the kind of tree we need to find too!
Larry and I have been cutting our tree since the 1st year we were married. We go to a tree farm in Monroe Michigan, about 25 minutes south of us. This year, though, we decided we would tree a tree farm closer to home. BIG MISTAKE! The trees, not so roly poly......thin and bare. We trudged through that farm for 45 minutes, knowing we would find something.
Here's what we saw:
So we left, thinking we should have gone to farm we always go to Matthes Evergreen Farm http://www.matthesevergreenfarm.com/. As we started off to the farm, it started raining a little, with a snow mixture. I just knew we had fooled around too much at the 1st farm, and now would have to cut a tree down in rain and snow, SIGH!
It didn't take us long to figure out which tree we wanted, there were many to chose from. I was like a kid in a candy shoppe! I found my ROLY POLY trees! We found two trees, one for us and one for our neighbor across the street. We cut the trees down, wellll if truth be told, it was my husband who cut the trees down. While he was doing that, I was taking pictures of a family next to us in front of the tree they picked. You can always tell us scrapbookers!
Here is a few pictures of our tree:
By the time we were done, we were soaking wet! It didn't take us long to get the trees loaded in our car, and back on the road home. The weather had turn for the worse and we were slippin and slidin' all the way. Glad we got home safe and sound....with my ROLY POLY tree!
The tree is in the garage waiting for us to get the decorations out on Thursday and have a tree dressing party. I will post a before and after picture.
So tonight I worked on homework due on Wednesday.......FRUSTRATING! I am really want this class over. After my homework was done, I went to my stamping "cove" and stamped this card as a reminder for today:
All Stampin' Up! Products: The stamp sets used were Snow Swirled and Snow Burst. Cardstock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point. Heat and Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds and Silver Embossing Powder.
Well, time for me to get ready for work tomorrow and hit the bed. I don't think that Snow Day is coming for me.......have a wonderful rest of the evening!
